Legal Authority:
The Solid Waste Local Task Force was established by The Board of Supervisors; Minute Order, dated January 28, 1992, and RESOLUTION NO. 92-47, Minute Order dated May 12, 1992, RESOLUTION NO. 92-270, and adding a Special District Representative (92-17,681).
Membership:
The Solid Waste Local Task Force consists of nineteen regular members and one Special District Representative approved by The Board of Supervisors and by a majority of the cities with a majority of the population within the county. Total membership: 20
Term:
The Local Solid Waste Task Force members’ terms are open ended.
Duties:
The purpose of the County of Santa Barbara Local Solid Waste Task Force is to assist and provide guidance in the implementation of recommended programs found in the countywide Integrated Waste Management Plan as defined by the California Integrated Waste Management Act regulations. The implementation process includes, but is not limited to:
• identification of solid waste management issues of countywide or regional concern;
• determination of the need for and assist the responsible parties in the implementation of solid waste collection systems, processing facilities, and marketing strategies that can serve more than one local jurisdiction within the region;
• promotion and development of multijurisdictional arrangements for the marketing of recyclable materials; and
• to the extent possible, resolution of any conflicts and inconsistencies between or among city SRREs
Meeting Date and Location:
The members meet on a bimonthly basis, usually the fourth Thursday of the month, at alternating locations.
