Legal Authority:
Political subdivision of the State of California. The State of California allowed local jurisdictions to create housing authorities through the Enabling Act of 1939 (reference State Health and Safety Code, beginning with Section 34200, for additional history, background, powers, duties, tax-exempt corporate status, etc.).
Membership:
Seven members
Term:
Four Years for District Commissioners and Two Years for Tenant Commissioners.
Duties:
Board Members serve as governing officers of the Authority, a public corporation, and they are the policy making body for the Authority. Construct, maintain and operate affordable housing for low income tenants throughout Santa Barbara County.
Meeting Date and Location:
Monthly meetings shall be held at either: 817 W Ocean Avenue, Lompoc, CA or 5575 Armitos Avenue, Goleta, CA (Feb/May/Aug/Nov) on the third Thursday of each month at 5:00 p.m., unless the same shall be a legal holiday in which event said meeting shall be held on the first regular business day proceeding the holiday.
