Established by Board resolution; 00-242 amended by Res. No. 01-430, December 11, 2001 pursuant to AB 1682 (Ch. 90 statutes of 1999). Members of the Committee are appointed by the Board of Supervisors and selected in accordance with Assembly Bill 1682 and Welfare and Institutions Code, Section 12301.3.
Membership:
11 members reflective of the geographic diversity of the County, including 6 current or past users of In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS), 2 providers of service, 1 representative of private industry, the Executive Director of the Adult and Aging Network and the Executive Director of the Area Agency on Aging or his/her designee. Not less than 50 percent of the Committee’s members shall be individuals who are current or past users of personal assistance services of In-Home Supportive Services. Five members comprise a quorum.
Term:
Three-year terms.
Duties:
It is the responsibility of the IHSS Advisory Committee to provide ongoing advice and recommendations regarding the In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) program to the Board of Supervisors, the administering body in the County that is related to the delivery of and administration of the IHSS program, and the governing body and administrative agency of the Public Authority.
Meeting Date and Location:
The Committee meets quarterly on the first Thursday of the month, beginning in 2013 with the February 7th meeting. Frequencies of meetings are at the discretion of the co-chair or of a majority of the Committee’s vote. Meetings are held in the Department of Social Services, 234 Camino Del Remedio, Santa Barbara, CA 93110.
