Legal Authority:
The Carpinteria Cemetery District Board of Trustees was created by the California Health & Safety Code (CH&SC), Section 9020 - “A legislative body of at least three members known as the Board of Trustees shall govern every Cemetery District”.

Membership:
There are five (5) members of the Carpinteria Cemetery District Board of Trustees.

Term:
The Board members serve four (4) year terms.

Duties:
Trustees shall establish and oversee the implementation of policies and procedures for the operation of the Carpinteria Cemetery District, in accordance with CA Health & Safety Codes, and other state and federal laws. They will conduct all Board business at public meetings in accordance with the Ralph M. Brown Act (CA Code, sections 54950 - 54962). Trustees will determine rules and regulations for the operation and use of the District Cemetery, and will also determine fees and charges for all District services, and products. They will determine the annual operating budget, and review and approve statement of income and expenditures monthly. Trustees will establish salary/wage levels and benefits for District employees annually.

The Board meets the first Monday during the months of February, April, June, August, October and December at 4:00 PM at the Cemetery District Board Room, 1501 Cravens Lane, Carpinteria, CA.
