Legal Authority:
The Air Pollution Control District Hearing Board was created by The Board of Supervisors' Minute Order of December 13, 1971. Established pursuant to ยง24225 of the Health & Safety Code.
Membership:
Five members serving staggered terms. Composition: one attorney, one chemical or mechanical engineer, one member of medical profession with specified skills and two "public" members (Health and Safety Code Section). The members of the APCD Hearing Board are appointed by the APCD Board of Directors
Term:
The Air Pollution Control District Hearing Board members serve three (3) year terms.
Duties:
1. To hear appeals from denials of:
a. Authority to construct;
b. Permits to operate.
2. To hear applications for variances from the Rules and Regulations.
3. To issue orders for abatement of discharge of contaminants into the air, after noticed public hearings (optional).
Meeting Date and Location:
The Air Pollution Control District Hearing Board meets the first Wednesday of each month at 9:30 a.m. in the Board of Supervisors Hearing Room, Santa Barbara or Santa Maria.
