Legal Authority:
Established by BOS approval of By-Laws May 18, 1999. Formerly the Adult & Long Term Care Planning Council - Board of Supervisors Resolution No. 92-305, and Minute Order dated May 19, 1992.

Membership:
The Adult and Aging Network shall be comprised of thirty-five members from the following organizational components:

Committees:

1. Standing Committees:
    a. Education
    b. Access to Services
    c. Advocacy/Legislation
    d. Public Awareness
2. Special Purpose Committees as needed

Network Policy Council:

The Network Policy Council membership shall be composed of the following appointed members form the public and private sectors:

1. Two (2) members of the Board of Supervisors
2. County Administrator
3. Director of Alcohol, Drug and Mental Health Services
4. Director of the Public Health Department
5. Director of the Department of Social Services
6. Treasurer - Tax Collector - Public Administrator (Public Guardian)
7. District Attorney
8. Representative of the Tri-Counties Regional Center
9. Consumer representation:
    a. 3 persons representing older adults (age 60 and above)
    b. 3 persons representing persons with chronic disease or disabling conditions (under age 60)
10. Executive Director of the Area Agency on Aging
11. American Association of Retired Persons (A.A.R.P.)
12. Representative of a Housing Authority
13. Representative of the Santa Barbara Regional Health Authority
14. Representatives of Municipal and County law enforcement
15. Representative of an acute and a rehabilitation health facility
16. Representatives of licensed residential and skilled nursing care facilities (one of each)
17. Long Term Care Ombudsman for County of Santa Barbara
18. Representatives of For Profit
19. Representatives of Non-Profit services
20. Human Services Commission, Director
21. In-Home Care Network, Director

The Network Policy Council shall also include but not be limited to a representative from the following groups:

1. Human Services Commission
2. Coordinating Councils
3. Private Non-Profit Corporations
4. Community based organizations
5. Advisory Boards to the Board of Supervisors
6. Community and Minority Organizations
7. Acute and rehabilitative health care
8. Home Health Care
9. Licensed care facilities
10. Senior Centers
11. Information and Referral
12. Adult education
13. Disease specific associations and foundations
14. Primary funders of services
15. Veterans Services

Term:
The Adult and Aging Network members serve unlimited Open Terms.

Duties:
The Adult and Aging Network members collaborate, inform and recommend services to older adults, disabled adults, their families and caregivers in Santa Barbara County.

Meeting Date and Location:
Meetings are held the fourth Wednesday of every other month, starting in January, in the Public Health Auditorium from 3:00 – 4:30 p.m. All meetings are subject to confirmation.
