Membership:
Up to a maximum of thirteen (13) members. The CHC Board must be made up of a majority (51% or greater) of Consumer Members (up to a maximum of eight Consumer Members) and five Community Members. Consumer Members are patients in the HCCs. Community Members are appointed by each Supervisory District and have experience and expertise in health care, finance, social services or other related fields. No more than 10% of the Community Members may derive their income from the health care field.
Term:
Each member serves a three year term.
Duties:
The CHC Board is the consumer-majority governing Board mandated by the Health Resources Services Administration’s (HRSA) - Bureau of Primary Health Care (BPHC) to provide oversight of the County’s network of federally-qualified health centers (FQHCs).
The CHC Board shall assist and advise the Public Health Department in promoting its vision of healthy people in healthy communities. It shall support and guide the Public Health Department in its mission to provide comprehensive health care that is quality-driven, affordable and culturally competent to the people of Santa Barbara County.
