Title
Consider recommendations regarding 2001-02 Central and North County Measure D Concrete Repair, Tree Removal, Tree Root Pruning and Shielding (Project No. 820482), Third, Fourth and Fifth Districts, as follows:
a) Approve plans and specifications for the project;
b) Declare bid proposal submitted by Whitaker Contractors, Inc. (not a local vendor) for the project as non-responsive;
c) Award the construction contract in the amount of $994,473.55 to the lowest responsible bidder, Mendez Concrete, Inc. (not a local vendor) subject to the provision of documents and certifications, as set forth in the plans and specifications applicable to the project and as required by law;
d) Authorize the Chair to execute the construction contract upon return of the Contractor's executed contract documents, and the review and approval of the County Counsel, Auditor-Controller and Risk Manager or their authorized representatives;
e) Approve a contingency fund in the amount of $62,223.68 for the project.
