Consider recommendations regarding the appointment of the Director of the Department of Social Services, as follows:
a) Approve the appointment of Maria Gardner as the County of Santa Barbara Director of Social Services, beginning November 10, 2026, at a bi-weekly base salary of $9,983.38 and with benefits consistent with those received by other appointed Santa Barbara County Department Heads under Resolution 26-205; and
b) Determine that the above-recommended actions are not projects that are subject to environmental review under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), pursuant to CEQA Guidelines section 15378(b)(4), finding that the actions are governmental funding mechanisms and/or fiscal activities that will not result in direct or indirect physical changes in the environment.
