Title: Consider recommendations regarding a Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC) Agreement for an Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program for Fiscal Year 2025-2026, as follows: a) Adopt a Resolution authorizing the Sheriff, or his designee, on behalf of Santa Barbara County to submit an application and, if awarded, execute a Grant Award Agreement with the BSCC for an Edward Byrne Memorial JAG Program, for the award period of October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2026, with an anticipated award amount of $346,122.00; b) Approve and authorize the Sheriff or his designee to execute a Grant Agreement with the BSCC, upon review and approval of County Counsel and the Auditor-Controller, or their designees, when the anticipated JAG funding is awarded; c) Designate the Sheriff's Office as the programmatic lead, and Probation and County Health as program partners, for the implementation of the JAG Program grant funds; and d) Determine that the above recommendations ...

Title

Consider recommendations regarding a Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC) Agreement for an Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program for Fiscal Year 2025-2026, as follows:

 

a) Adopt a Resolution authorizing the Sheriff, or his designee, on behalf of Santa Barbara County to submit an application and, if awarded, execute a Grant Award Agreement with the BSCC for an Edward Byrne Memorial JAG Program, for the award period of October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2026, with an anticipated award amount of $346,122.00;

 

b) Approve and authorize the Sheriff or his designee to execute a Grant Agreement with the BSCC, upon review and approval of County Counsel and the Auditor-Controller, or their designees, when the anticipated JAG funding is awarded;

 

c) Designate the Sheriff’s Office as the programmatic lead, and Probation and County Health as program partners, for the implementation of the JAG Program grant funds; and

 

d) Determine that the above recommendations are not the approval of a project that is subject to environmental review under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) pursuant to CEQA Guidelines Section 15378(b)(4), finding that the project is a creation of government funding mechanisms or other government fiscal activities, which do not involve any commitment to any specific project which may result in a potentially significant physical impact on the environment.
