Consider recommendations regarding the contracts with the City of Santa Maria, Santa Ynez People Helping People, SER Jobs for Progress to provide Workforce Investment Act Youth Services, as follows:
a) Approve and authorize the Chair to execute a contract for the period October 1, 2007 through September 30, 2010 with the City of Santa Maria, a local vendor, in the amount of $325,000 to provide Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Youth Services to In-School eligible youth between the ages of 14 and 21 years of age in the greater Santa Maria Valley and Cuyama;
b) Approve and authorize the Chair to execute a contract for the period October 1, 2007 through September 30, 2010 with Santa Ynez People Helping People, a local vendor, in the amount of $318,779, to provide Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Youth Services to In-School eligible youth between the ages of 14 and 21 years of age in the Lompoc and Santa Ynez Valleys;
c) Approve and authorize the Chair to execute a contract for the period October 1, 2007 through September 30, 2010 with SER Jobs for Progress, not a local vendor, in the amount of $382,510 to provide Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Youth Services to In-School eligible youth between the ages of 14 and 21 years of age in Santa Barbara, Goleta, Carpinteria, and Lompoc;
d) Approve and authorize the Chair to execute a contract for the period October 1, 2007 through September 30, 2010 with SER Jobs for Progress, not a local vendor, in the amount of $480,496 to provide Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Youth Services to Out-of-School eligible youth between the ages of 14 and 21 years of age in Santa Barbara, Goleta, Carpinteria, and Lompoc and Santa Ynez Valleys; and
e) Authorize the Director of the Department of Social Services to approve future amendments to the aforementioned contracts, provided that any such amendments to the contract are not in variance of 10% of the contracts dollar amount.
