Consider recommendations regarding Orcutt and Tanglewood Transit Stop Enhancements, Cooperative Agreement with City of Santa Maria, Santa Maria Regional Transit (SMRT) Operator; Fourth and Fifth Districts, as follows: (4/5 Vote Required)
a) Approve and authorize the Chair to execute the Orcutt and Tanglewood Transit Stop Furniture Improvements Cooperative Agreement with the City of Santa Maria, operator of SMRT. The Agreement authorizes the Public Works Department to transfer a total of $109,265.00 in Transportation Development Act - Local Transportation Fund (TDA-LTF) to the City of Santa Maria to fund transit stop enhancements including the purchase and installation of new transit benches and transit shelters at public bus stops in the communities of Orcutt and Tanglewood;
b) Approve Budget Revision Request No. 1569 to increase Fiscal Year 2026-2027 appropriation of $109,265.00 in Public Works Roads-Alternative Transport Fund (FD-0019) for Services and Supplies funded by the TDA-LTF; and
c) Determine that the project is exempt from the provisions of the California Environmental Quality Act pursuant to 14 CCR section 15301(c) as the proposed project(s) consists of the operation, repair, maintenance, or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities, mechanical equipment, or topographical features, involving negligible or no expansion of use beyond that previously existing, including but not limited to existing highways and streets, sidewalks, and similar facilities. A Notice of Exemption was filed on this basis on August 25, 2026, and the proposed action is within the scope of that Notice of Exemption.
